(1) CONTEXT
Long time ago i was go with my wife, godfather family where is on charge for church, in Cauesti, com. Scheia, city of Iasi�http://acasa.parohiacauesti.ro/�
for some escape. Outside was very cold and foggy, so the rest stay in
church, me .. go for a walk and try to capture some shot. So i was
looking everywhere for some interesting scene and also for some element
that i can used later one, anything that can be interesting.
The
tree was shot in other place, maybe 2 years ago, winter time, near to
the Monastery of Agapia, Targu Neamt. Any how, all 3 shot was almost
same weather, so was easy for me to implement on presence days.
(2) THE PICTURE
The
fist picture was shot with bracketing mode, because outside was foggy
and i want to capture all scene, so i was planning for latter one to
merge together on photoshop or with some HDR software, like TOPAZ.
The main shot was taken by this configuration, f 7.1, exp. 1/125, ISO 200, auto light on 18 mm, _/+ 2 another shot bracketing.
The
second one, man on the cart, was latter one made, i was talk a little
with him, try to convince him to allow me make some shot, very hard to
explain that i'm not a "paparatzi" and the picture will not be used for
some stupid thing .. and after 30 minute of talk (i was also new there
and try to explain him who i am !) and i try many different shot with
different setting on bracketing mode to be sure i will have some great
exposure, because the weather was very foggy and lightly.
After
i shot him also from the back, i found this situation very interesting,
so i made several more with f 7.1, exp. 1/30, ISO 200, auto light on 18
to 50, -/+ 2 bracketing mode.
The
3th one, the tree, it was shot long time ago ..., so i din't use
"special" setting, i just set up my camera for a great exposure and i
was happy�for the final result :) f 9, exp. 1/100, ISO 300, auto light on 22 mm.
All was shot with HD Polarizator filter.
(3) PROCESSING
So the processing was a little longer, firs i was made another version, and finally i was stop with this one :)
I
was like the main picture, was look very abandoned and mysterious for
me, so i wanted to create something mysterious but to not be afraid, so i
start thinking to change a little the "weather" with one more mystical,
but all this one in PS !
I
am using a laptop Fujitsu Amilo XI computer and I am working to my full
satisfaction with Photoshop CS3 for 5 years now. I use 4 season plugin
for sky.First
I uploaded the main picture, i cut the rest, small tree and so on, so
first i cut the big amount of "sky, bushes" with selection marque, after
i duplicate the main layer and for the top one i choice from CREATE
CLIPPING MASK, after with Polygonal lasso tools, feather 1%, i start so
select the area i don't need and delete by delete action or key DEL, and
believe was a lot of work !! 2 hours only for that :)))
After
the ground was need some clone on the right side and front of him,
because i was remove also the fence and other bushes, so in the masked
layer i clone the ground and same move on the second layer to, the clone
stamp �was set to Opacity 100& with Flow 21.
So
till here all god, after the right side fence was top to "strange", so i
cloned a part of him and bend by warping command on the wend lo look
like road go down, like from a hill.
After
i add some darkness to the all layer in mask, 2 different colors and
setting, one of them was almost black color with layer style -SOFT
LIGHT, and the second one brown color and on layer style choice opacity
50%
On
the ground i pick up some similar colors and with color replacement i
retouch the whiteness of the edge, same with the fence to.
The
second step, i open the man with the cart, there same move, first crop
the work area to reduce the "space" of working, duplicate layer, create
mask layer and with polygonal marque tool select what i don't need and
delete till remaining only the man on cart, same step from main
background.
After
finish also this one, i was use also the level option, because the
colors/light was not same, so i use for the cart a lighter level, around
1.55
The
tree was also very hard work, first i opened in PS, i duplicate the
fist layer, i use level to bring more contrast/define the edge and for
first "cut" i use OnOne Mask tool for better selection, there i select
colors what i need and don't and make a fist remove of the background,
after applying i continuing my work on "manual" mode. So i made some
move, create clipping mask on the firs layer and with polygonal lasso i
select what i don't need and delete ..., 3 more hours of work !!! and
nerves of steel :)))
So
i complete also this one, i added to the main work and i create one
more layer on the masked layer, i painted with black and from layer
style i choice Luminosity with 48% opacity.
Well
done till here, after i create the sky, hard work also here, even i was
use 4 season plugin, was a lot of work to found the perfect "sky", so i
try many option ..., unfortunately i don't have anymore the setting
because i din't save the preset !
Is
almost finish ..., but for more realistic and great impact i create the
moon by simple brush, 300 size, smooth 0 and opacity 50%, white color,
after from layer style i choice Lighter color.
The
birds and fog from ground was made by brush, nothing special here, just
pick up the colors you like, in my case i use grey dark for birds and
white for fog, after i apply where i need or where you like :)
So
on the end was adding some shadow under the cart and foggy on front of
him, to look more mystical, time to complete was more than 10 hours !,
maybe not because was hard job, maybe because i'm to slowly :)
(4) OUTCOME
So
how i was say before, this one was the last work, so before i was made
few version, but on the final i reach my dream of work and was published
to, so i'm very happy because my work was shared and accepted. The
final result was in did what i wanted to look like and the story of that
place.
After
being published, i was very happy to see that also members from 1x.com
was enjoyed, added to fav and give some future suggestion, so i was
happy to know that was not only my good impression because it was made
by me. I will take this opportunity to thanks Ben, winch suggest me to
correct the shadow under the cart and re-uploaded, and glad was accepted
after improvement. �Thank's also to Arthur for suggestion, but i like
it more like this and to add some more space to the right.
The main thing here is of course 'creativity'. Have some ideas and try to work them out. And try again... Don't start by thinking that it can not be done. With such excuses you never will succeed
Explore everyday the world around you: things that you could use in your creative work. Maybe not today, but in the future...
Obviously you need some Photoshop skills, but everybody can learn it. Read some good books and tutorials. Look at similar work on the internet and learn how others did it. Be patient and love to work on it
(6) BIOGRAPHY
I live in Iasi, Romania and I am 33 years old
Photographically, my preference goes to color work (as the world around us is in color too)
I started with photography some 10 years ago. I also designed my own website�winch now has been closed because no more founds ...
